Gannet BioChem Advances Sustainability Goals Through TVA EnergyRight Strategic Energy Management Program
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Sept. 17, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Gannet BioChem, a leading specialty chemical Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), today announced progress toward its sustainability goals through participation in the TVA EnergyRight® Strategic Energy Management (SEM) program.
Gannet BioChem has committed to reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 63% by 2035 from a 2020 baseline—a near-term target validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The TVA EnergyRight SEM program is helping the company translate that commitment into practical, measurable improvements at its Huntsville manufacturing facility.
Through the program, Gannet BioChem works with energy experts to assess facility operations, track performance and identify opportunities to reduce energy use. Monthly energy management and peer-learning sessions also allow the company to exchange best practices with other industrial manufacturers and build energy efficiency into everyday decision-making.

Initial projects have included an air-leak survey and air-compressor replacement, resulting in estimated annual energy savings of more than 150,000 kilowatt-hours. Additional initiatives currently underway include chiller upgrades, lighting improvements and the replacement of air-operated equipment, with further infrastructure projects planned for 2027.
The program also gives Gannet BioChem access to diagnostic tools and financial incentives that can improve the return on energy-efficiency investments. These resources help the company prioritize projects, uncover previously unidentified energy losses and connect reductions in electricity use with measurable greenhouse gas emissions data.
As part of its longer-term sustainability strategy, Gannet BioChem is also evaluating renewable energy certificates available through TVA, including considerations such as procurement volume, contract length and alignment with SBTi requirements.
